LASTEST NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Hope that you all are getting though the cold OK. I have had some brave souls out the last couple of weeks but that surface interval has been a killer!
We had our first sighting of a Whale Shark on 12/16/09 just south of the Boynton Inlet. I almost ran over it with the boat as it came up on us just a couple of feet under the surface. The Boat spooked it away quickly but it was great to sea!!!
Just a quick note to wish everybody a great Holiday season. We will be Diving almost everyday through out the Holiday, so give us a call and we will get you booked
Just a Quick heads up for anybody still using 561-493-1575 to contact me. That number will be discontinued the first part of January, and 561-212-2954 will be the only number you will need to feed your diving fix. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Many of you have probably seen the video that Reef Rescue took of a Lionfish off the back side of Gulfstream Ledge. It did make the local news. Last week we saw a second one in the same area. Please let me know if you see one and I will pass the info on to Reef Rescue as they are a big concern to the health of our reefs.
We had our Second Leatherback Turtle sighting of the year and it was a big one. It was spotted on the surface in about 85 ft. of water. We were able to watch it over several minutes. We have also spotted a Hammerhead on several occasions and a Manta Ray has even made a appearance. Great way to start the mating season!!
We have been doing a lot of work with Reef Rescue, a non-profit Corporation dedicated to monitoring, preserving and protecting the Coral Reef Ecosystem of South Florida through research, education and public awareness. If you have been following the saga of the Delray Outfall at all, you my have heard that you can fight City Hall. Bowing to pressure from Reef-Rescue and other organizations, the Delray outfall went offline on April 1, 2009. And no, this was know April fools joke! Special Props to Ed and Terri for there unbelievable work. Check out there web site at www.reef-rescue.org and donate what you can...They do GREAT work!
The Fish is Running daily straight through the end of the year. I look forward to a great Season of bubble blowing. Call to schedule your dive adventure as soon as possible!!!!!!
That's about it for now...Dive and drive safely...Hope
to sea ya soon.
"Sea" Ya Soon
